Have you thought about retirement? Well if you have seriously given retirement some thought than welcome to the majority of people. As the thought of retirement is more and more on the minds of people all over the world. The generations of working class are looking to redefine what it means to retire in the coming years.

Many people especially the baby boomer generation are looking at the standard retirement age as a mere stepping stone to a new chapter in their working life. Many baby boomers are starting new careers when they “retire” as most are ready to be done with the job they had but they are not ready to be done with work. Some of the main reasons for the rise in popularity for working on beyond the retirement age are to stay sharp mentally for more money or simply to start an exciting new adventure in life.

Most people believe that even though your social security will start paying you around the age of 63 that the actual ready for retirement age is not until you are 75 to 80 years old. Let’s face it people are living longer, learning to stay healthier and know that staying active is a big ingredient to both of those points.

It’s not just the baby boomers that are rethinking their retirement age the younger generations that are following them are also looking into alternatives. As more people are looking at long term investments as well as looking to work for companies that offer some sort of long term financial advice service like a 401k fund management service.

What does all this mean? It means that we have a growing population that is actively changing what it means to be retired. Not only that but employers will have to look into changing the way they do business to tap into this growing workforce the will have years of experience and professionalism. They will need to change their ideas of how jobs can be accomplished. Hiring these skilled workers part time or with flex schedules would be a big step for any company looking to take advantage of this new and growing resource.

It’s all about change and the times they are a changing right before our eyes. Retirement is no longer the end of your working career it simply is the start of a whole new chapter in your life and where it takes you is all up to you.
